Re: Apalachicola River/ Torreya State Park

I have hiked Torreya several times with the scouts and have camped where you will be. In another month, it is a fine place to hear a turkey gobble. I have never fished there so I have no recommendations. Good luck!

Re: First hog with night vision and first 2 hogs with new Gl

Great post and nice shooting with the pistol. They are surprisingly tough. If you want to pick them up, you need to shoot them in the head. I have shot several big boars with my .270 behind the shoulder and they will run off without a good blood trail despite the fact they are mortally wounded.

Re: Another Louisiana trip

Great trip and great pics. That is one crazy fishery. I am heading back at the end of December for our annual blast and cast and would love to hang one of those big bulls.

Re: Apalachicola bay 10/12-14

Well done. I fished this weekend with a buddy and the wind wore us out. Saw birds working and banged out there to them and only caught sailcats. Saw 2 tarpon, but no hookups. Water clarity was poor.

Re: Louisiana inshore

Absolutely awesome fishing. Have posted reports from both our blast and cast in January and our yearly family trip in May. we fish with Captain Patrick Dickinson of Dixie Riverside Charters and hunt with Jacque Blaize of Blaize Charters. Cannot say enough good things about either one of them. 14 wee...

Well done. I fished the Saturday morning rising tide and was impressed by the water clarity. Found a few fish too.

Mullet is good, but ladyfish is my favorite. That being said, the biggest shark I ever fought came on a monster pinfish.

Re: Poppin Corks

I take our boy scout troop fishing at the coast every year and for a lot of the boys it is their first time fishing like that. Silverking's bead solution is the one I use. It is cheap simple and will save a lot of wear and tear on your gear. I also spend a lot of time straightening the wire on the c...

Re: Harvey/TX Gulf Coast

This morning the media questions to the FEMA chief were all questioning why they did not evacuate Houston. The problem is that they would have had to have made that call on Monday in order to move 5 million people and not strand them on the highway. My family are all safe (Thank God), but one cousin...

Re: FAVORITE SHARK HOOK? And why? for medium sized sharks

Depends on the size bait I am using and whether or not I am holding the rod or have it in a rod holder. If I am holding the rod, I prefer a J hook size 7/0-9/0. Fishing from shore with the rod in a holder, I use circle hooks size 9/0 to 13/0 and use pliers and a crimping tool to open the gap a littl...

I agree with Steve. I fish that area quite a bit. the water is really stained right now and the fishing was tough over the 4th of July. Good luck and post a report.
