Tsunami has a line of soft plastics they call tidal baits, they come in shrimp, jerk shad and paddle tail I’ve been catching a lot of my fish lately on those. They are scented(not like gulp) and inexpensive.

DOA for shrimp, zman trout tricks and jerkbaits, saltwater assassin for paddletails, I only buy gulp when they have the rebate. I only use gulp now if the bite is tough.

I started using ZMan soft plastics last year. (Tired of donating all brands of plastic bodies to the fishies) Relatively expensive? Yes, but I used two shrimp bodies and one shad body in a full day of fishing/catching. (Lots of trout and ladyfish) Tough does not do these baits justice! It takes some work to get them on a jig head. Just grip the body tightly just below the keeper and push like hell. When they're on the keeper, they don't come off. Best colors so far are New Penny/chartreuse tail, Pearl White w/a little orange JJ's Magic dye on the tip of the tail.

Back when Bomber made soft plastic I liked their 5” jerk bait in white but no longer available and I’m almost out of them after buying every bag I could find at some discount online clearance place. DOA and Saltwater Assain are my goto now.

Gulp works but hate the oily slime in the boat and on my hands.

I have converted to Zman as well. So nice to use the same grub to catch multiple trout and reds in one day. White has produced best for me, but that is the color that I used mostly because that is what they were hitting. I have some Gulps left, but will probably phase them out. Still love the Gulp shad jerkbait, but there are several similar from Zman.

I caught 21 trout on one mirror lure grub once. I was shocked at the toughness of those baits.

Unfair lures smackpaddle in hot orange or charteuse. Like Zman, one will last you all day.

I hear bigger models of their soft plastics are coming out soon. I can’t wait.
