Scalloping out of Apalachicola

Post by BigAirHarper »

Hey everyone, we have scalloped Port St Joe Bay but we are headed to Apalachicola this coming Friday for a night. We will be coming on our boat so two questions:
1) St joe bay is still closed but is there any good areas to snag some scallops for a few hours in the areas that are open. Maybe slightly east of Apalachicola?
2) where is the best place to park the boat overnight?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I know people scallop around the Lanark area, don’t know if their are any reports from the area, but any closer than Carrabelle and I don’t think you will have much luck.

The Gulf County area/St. Joe Bay opens August 16. Much better chance of finding some over there vs. the Lanark area.

As far as transient slips, there are several marinas in Apalach and Carrabelle. The marina at Alligator Point may be an option as well. It would be the closest to the grass flats along Hwy 98, which have historically been the Franklin County spots.
