Anyone else watch this seminar? I tried but it was so badly done, I didn't last more than 10 minutes before turning it off. If it got better, I probably missed something important.

Teaching courses to adults is hard, teaching online well is REALLY hard and it takes a lot of training and practice to make engaging online content. Hard scientist are very rarely good at communicating in a way that is both engaging and informative.

All that being said, this class was not well done. Hopefully they go back and improve the course and refine the content a bit. It didn't help the second instructor was MIA. I jumped off when they took a break to go find him.

I made it 30 minutes. Not what I expected.

I kept it on. They got past their tech difficulties after a bit. I learned why fog over water takes longer to burn off than fog over land. Got a link to their electronic chart viewer which is replacing their paper charts.
That's about it for over an hour long webinar.
As my kids would say, . . . meh.

Sorry to hear it was so poorly done. I did not watch it, but not surprised. The feds (and state many times) try to do these types of public education projects and fall short. It came across my desk and wanted to pass it along, though, just in case there were a few kernels of useful information.
