Surf fishing with Penn Senator / Yaking baits out

1/4 of line..250 yards? or more? I will primarily be fishing the flats of Alligator Point and Bald Point Region in Florida. Also will be rigging my reels up with 100 lb braid...but how many yards TOPSHOT and What pounds to use to use.......? any certain brand better than others? Thanks..any help is APPRECIATED!!

Old thread, but you mention "fishing the flats"... but also say 1,000yds of 100lb and yak'ing baits out, which implies big time shark fishing...

If you're wanting to fish the surf for reds, blues, etc. you're way over the top with that gear. Even if you're looking to catch sharks from the shore, that's quite a bit of overkill. You can happily land 5-6ft sharks from the beach with an 8000 size reel, 300yds of Power Pro 40lb and a good surf rod. The numbers you mention sound more appropriate for pelagic shark fishing.
