Diawa reel info

Post by BillytheKid »

Picked up a couple of older Diawa surf rods/reels today. Didn’t pay much for em so figured I would give them a try. One is a Diawa 7000c and the other is a GS-60sc. Any opinions or info on these? I will have to figure out how to post pics.

I can't recall those 2 specific reels but I've owned several Daiwas from every price range. They were all the smoothest, easiest to use reels that you couldn't backlash if you tried. There was a huge catch though - the line guide quit moving in less than a year. I don't know how in the world they made the smoothest reel in the world that had 1 basic problem that made it tear up so fast.

The GS should be solid, they were supposed to be equivalent of a Penn 650 I believe. The 7000 is a banax made reel I believe.

I kept the GS and it seems like a great reel. I ended up selling the 7000 and made my money back from the bulk purchase.
