whiting at Crooked Island East Beach

Post by pcbayou »

This is a few days late, but the whiting were biting on Sunday afternoon at the Crooked Island public beach at the end of Tyndall, just before Mexico Beach. About halfway through a rising tide with an onshore wind, the two of us caught seven that were nice eating size, in about two hours. We used live shrimp and white Gulp shrimp. We coulda/woulda caught many more if I hadn't been stubborn about casting so far off the beach. The wife who always outfishes her husband also caught a black drum.

Good catch! Whiting are hard to catch on jigs, so I'd say you did really well.
