First Deer of the Season

Post by ugadawg »

Shot my first deer with the bow and arrow. Been wanting to shoot one with the bow for several years, and finally managed to get a shot today. Got it quartered and on ice, and I get to fire up the grinder early this year!

Good job, nothing better than backstrap on the grill and a cold beer in your hand!

congrats. Deer with a bow is an accomplishment. It is also quickly addicting.

Still too hot for me. I made the mistake of shooting a hog the Saturday prior to Irma b/c they seem to be invading me, and the quick processing required reminded me why I don't bow hunt yet.
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

I can find no equal to 'letting the wind out' of a deer with a bow and arrow. With a gun, it honestly got to the point where it was a little ho-hum. But with a bow, even a doe gets me anxious.

Congrats! After wanting to get into it for years, I finally picked up a bow this year. The addiction has already set in and I haven't even killed a deer yet.
