Got some reds today (still forgot the net), but none had the special tags, unfortunately.

Hot, hot and hotter. Water temps in the mid-80s, but the water was clear. Couldn't find any qualifying trout.

Did I mention how much I HATE scallop season? Bozos and pontoon boats everywhere.

This is my first STAR tournament... I picked up 2 official measuring sticks the other day and since they're made of paper, I'm thinking they won't last long under wet fish so I'm wondering if there's anything I need to do to them to make them last until October?

Juan, Gary would probably be a better source for this since he's dealing in volume and rugged conditions.

The rulers are made with that waterproof coating, so they seem to hold up pretty well. I rinse mine down to remove the slime, open it up so it doesn't stick together and let dry for the next trip. So far, so good. That's what I did in previous years, but I didn't get to use it much since I traveled so much during the summer. Not this year, though, other than solo to the local ramps and back home.

You can always pick up another one if yours start falling apart.

That's not so easy for me since the closest West Marine or other place that has them is 70 miles from the house and they aren't open early enough to stop by before a fishing trip so I got the 2 I have now from Gulf Marine after a day of fishing. I didn't realize they had a waterproof coating so they may be fine. I'll wash em off as you do (if I get to use them :-D )

Juan, if you wear 2 out from so many fish, let me know and I'll get you a couple more and mail them to you. :)

Same old, same old on Friday. Hot, bumpy, windy. The weather guessers sure aren't paid on accuracy.
