Rockin' Reds Tournament Day 1 In The Books

Post by Scoop Sea »

With 89 boats registered, there will be some great payouts as this tournament returns all of the entry fees back to the winners. Day 1 saw team Red Hounds haul in $500 for having the largest Redfish weighed in (7.71 lbs) and team Shotgun Sunday also collected $500 for weighing in the largest Snapper (22.52 lbs). Mike's Marine down in Panacea sponsored those awesome payouts.

As with the Rock The Dock Tournament, Captain Joel and the team at SeaTow brought in the "Weigh A Fish Win A Grand" prize money option for SeaTow members who weigh in any legal fish. Very few SeaTow members weighed in a fish on Day 1, but we expect more to do so on Day 2 when the bigger boats come in with their fish.

The Snapper Division winner will take home over $3,700 and the Redfish Division winner will take home over $3,400. There were 7 entries into the Kayak Division and the lucky winner there will take home over $225. Besides the overall winner in each of these Divisions, there will be payouts for 2nd and 3rd place as well. Furthermore, there were some Side Pots/Calcuttas thrown in the mix as well: Redfish with the most spots, 2-day Redfish aggregate weight, Largest overall Snapper (2 tiers with the total payouts for those 2 tiers being several thousand dollars), and also a pot for Largest Grouper. Although Grouper wasn't a targeted species for the tournament, the tournament team decided to throw this option out there as well.

If you get a chance, head on down to Woolley Park Sunday from 12-6 to watch the final weigh-ins and prize payouts.
