Trolling report

Post by Carlabear »

Went out Friday with high hopes fishing for grouper and snapper in our new boat. 27 ft Cape Horn. New to us .Boat ran great but fishing little slow bottom fishing. Caught 5 nice grouper trolling in 60 feet and 1 snapper. Had double knockdown twice back to back! That was exciting! Used silver magna rap 40and new Nomad 40…. Spanish mackerel Both ran straight and true. This was first time we have used nomad lures. Caught hog fish using shrimp on bottom. Nice surprise. Thank you U tube. Trolling seemed to be the best way to catch grouper. Surprised catching big snapper trolling too. We had a great day on the water.

great report. congrats on the new boat. How are you trolling in 60'? Are you putting weight in front of the lures?
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

We just troll the stretch 30's and the Z Rap 40's and pick up snapper in 90ft of water. Have caught grouper and snapper in 60ft using those plugs.
