Carrabelle offshore 4/24/21

Post by Hit-n-Miss »

Been landlocked for a couple months and got an invite to go after snapper. So met my friend and his son at 5:00am and headed to Carrabelle to meet his brother in law(bils boat) We got gas launched and headed out about 7:30. We were worried about rain but seas were ok so we ran to check some bait traps. Image
Wasn’t as smooth as we hoped but the cat made 32mph running to the first spot in 70’. My buddy lost a good one then I caught a keeper red snapper and a lane. The bite died so we ran on out to 110’ and limited out there. Image
The seas had gotten rougher so we took a ten mile detour as to not have to run straight into the seas it took 2.5 hours to get to the dock. Image
Then it was time to clean the boat and fish. Long day and lots of fun. Enjoyed it and was glad I didn’t puke this trip Image. Glad I got invited.

So when it's that bouncy out there, do you anchor up or drift? Too bouncy for the trolling motor, or do you have one of those HelmMaster setups to use your outboards to stay on a spot?

The captain stayed at the helm and held us over the spot best he could.
