Easter Fishing the Flats

Post by TOWM »

We enjoyed a great day fishing all over the flats. We trolled mackerel rigs and caught several 19-20” Mack’s. We caught a nice 18” bluefish on a 5” purple Shimmer Shad under a cork. We caught a dozen or so short trout, all 13-14”, on 4” silver Shad soft plastic lures. And, we caught a small shark on a pinfish. The water temperature was mid 60’s and we mostly fished 5-9’ depths. The water clarity was pretty good.
The dolphins put on a fantastic show around our boat. The kids were amazed to see the dolphins jump and splash right next to the boat, and bow ride and zigzag under and around our boat. And we saw a big turtle swim past the boat.
