Finding some.. nothing to thick yet. But able to put enough together for a meal. Kids have enjoyed finding those blue eyes in the grass.

I went out Sunday and found a few. Luckily the rain stayed away from us.

RB-do you keep them in saltwater? Livewell? If so, why? I’ve always just emptied them into a cooler of ice, but you seem well versed in sea food treatment.

I just had them in the bucket so the kids could see them alive and moving around. Once I headed home I iced them down. No secrets just finding ways to keep those youngins entertained

I learned the hard way to put the scallops on top of but not in the ice. On top, they open up and are compliant. In the ice they lock shut and each one has to be pried open with a knife.

If they are closed you can take a butter knife and go to the gap on the side of the shells and get them open fairly easy.

Still finding the scallops. Hope everyone is as well.

Made some ceviche with the last batch! Oh man it was good!

Side note rant:

Had a boat idle right up next to my boat with six swimmers in the water to ask if there was any scallops. Of course I had my dive flag up high. He quickly got a “no”response and idled on.

But seriously what gives? Guy was 15’ from my boat with kids in the water. Stuff like that makes me get a bit salty, fast.

All the dang ocean in the world and guy wants to drive right up on us.

Rant over.

Speaking of sharing scalloping grounds, I saw what I think was an 8-10 ft hammerhead slowly cruising the shallow flats near the party bar the other day. I don't think they recognize dive flags either.....Image
