March2022 Daytona New Smyrna Beach Mosquito Lagoon

Post by CaptMikeSavedow »

Spring 2022 has arrived to the intracoastal waterway here at New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon Florida, water temperature on the rise, bait fish and game fish moving back north through our area after a winter down south. Jack Crevalle, Bluefish, Ladyfish, Pompano, Spanish Mackerel are some of the coastal migratory fish which travel the east coast of Florida, heading back north in spring. Resident fish like Spotted Seatrout, Snook, Redfish, Black Drum and others also like the rising water temperatures in spring, the variety of species we catch always increases after winter ends. Spring is also our time the shrimp come through the area waterway, and they are the main bait for all species of fish. Allison and her dad from Wisconsin fished a couple times with me recently, had a great time in our beautiful backcountry, a good Black Drum came aboard for a photo before we released him back to swim again ………….

Sharks are always a favorite to catch for visiting clients who are mostly fresh water fishers back “home”, Amanda from New Jersey held her Shark for a pic ……………

Mark from Wisconsin with another nice Black Drum, a fun little battle on light tackle …………..
