St. Marks Update?

Post by Saltydawg »

My son and I are hoping to get a day trip to St.Marks in sometime in the next couple of weeks before his second child is born and he goes into “nursery arrest.” Any updates on what’s been happening there and any results. We are relatively new fishing that area. Last year bout this time we took a similar trip and had a GREAT day. Started off slow trolling jig heads with paddle tail soft plastic and got a couple of decent trout. Then powerpoled down on outside edge of channel and cast basically the same rigs into deeper water and musta caught 100+ trout, mostly in the 12-14 3/4 inch length of course but did get our limit of keepers. Later as day had warmed some and we’re fixing to leave drifted the edges throwing mirrodines and landed 2 nice 20+ inchers which course we released. Any new suggestions or basically go with rinse and repeat?

There are trout of all sizes in Stoney Bayou right now. With colder water, very slow retrieves into holes/troughs with light jig head soft baits (like 1/8 oz curly tails) has been working on either side of low tides. They seem to be concentrated, so maybe keep moving if you do not hook up right away.
