Most of my outfits are equipped with 30 or 3000 series depending on the make. My current favorite is the Diawa BG 30 spooled with 20 lb braid.

Some use 2500/3000, some use 4000 size( that’s what I use). Take your rod in and try different size reels to see what balances well and fits your hand.

I use 2500 and 3000 series reels.

The 2500 is fine for most anything you'll catch, but the 3000 gives you a little more room if you end up hooking something more substantial, which does sometime happen.

I'm using Shimano Stradic 3000 reels (CI4+). Not sure about other brands, but the 2500 and 3000 in Shimano are the same reels except the 3000 spool is a little longer to hold a bit more line. I fish 10-pound Power Pro Super Slick braid, so I've got about 225 yards of line spooled, more than enough for trout, reds, flounder, Spanish, etc.

Add about 3 feet of 20-pound Seaguar blue label fluorocarbon leader connected with double uni jam knots. Casts extremely well and I can feel the slightest tick from a fish.

I have 3 Stradic 2500's and 3 3000's.........and I can't tell the difference between the two. They both hold enough 15-pound braid to catch any Redfish, Trout or other you are likely to encounter in our local waters.

Mostly 2500-3000 and a few with 4000. I’ve been using more braid and smaller lighter reels to reduce fatigue from all day casting.
