I'm a Lowrance fan and currently have the Elite 9 =. It's been many years since I owned a Humminbird but just bought a Humminbird Helix for the skiff and I'm really impressed... It may convert me.
Good price or not, I'd avoid the Hook models. I've found their processor to be really slow so charts sometimes won't refresh as fast as your boat moves through them.

I thought the hook2 fixed all of that, I mostly bought it to be a chart plotter, I sure ain't giving up my birds on sonar.

Not sure..the 2's could be better. I know the one I had was super slow and I'd bet there's a reason they have so many returned and refurbished Hooks on sale...

If I had to guess it's because they are discontinuing them for the hook3, the hook2 supposedly has a faster processor than the original hook.

Did you pull the trigger on a refurbed Hook2? If so, is it faster than the original Hooks? I can't get used to the Humminbird Helix 7 . It's nothing like my Lowrance so thinking about ordering a refurbed Elite 7 or maybe the Hook2. Just don't want my boat out running my chartplotter.

Do you want touchscreen? Hook isn't touchscreen is it ? Just Elite and up and Live?

Good point.. Yep, didn't think about the touch screen and I think you're right. I'd like to keep that option but might go with the Hook if all I have to give up is the touch screen.
Doom, let us know how the Hook2 performs for ya.
Found an article on the Hook vs Hook2. Looks promising.

That's good to know. They just keep getting better.

p.s. I've got a Humminbird Helix 7 I just paid $400 less than a month ago. Asking $300.

I've looked everywhere and can't find a reduced, clearance or sale priced Elite 7 ti2. Except for a rebuilt one from Lowrance, I can't even find a good deal on a used one. Anyone got a link to sale?
