Forgotten Coast

Post by ropeman »

Someone asked me recently where is the forgotten coast. I replied that it is from Keaton to Port St Joe. Is there any real demarcation?

Now that I have thought about it probably from Cedar Key to PSJ.

Per this book, the author gave me at the fish market. It says “originally” St.Mark’s to Mexico Beach. But the title claims “don’t know much..”

But in my mind I was thinking along the lines of your said parameters

I think the book might be right. I've always heard of the Forgotten Coast being a reference to the beaches in the region. Wikipedia stops it at St. Marks.

From my short 51 years here it's not "The Forgotten Coast "anymore. I would consider Keaton/Steinhachee area west to Appalachicola/PSJ to have fallen in this area. :smt004
