Lake Seminole yellow perch!?!?

Post by bman »

At a friends place on Fishpond Drain and caught a yellow perch on a Beatle spin off their dock...

I've caught them in lake Lanier but had no idea they were this far south!
Anyone else caught them on Seminole?

They are part of the ACF river basin. Believe it or not they flourish in the the dead lakes on the southern apalach. Also, we have done some studies on shoal bass in the chipola river and we always seem to find a few of those guys while searching for shoalies. Everyone is always amazed to find out there hope range does extend this far south.

I've never caught one nor seen one anyone else has caught. I thought they were a northern fish!

Thanks for the report and information.

Always catch a few while fishing for crappie in Lake Blackshear.

When I lived in Atlanta we caught them in Bull Sluice Lake on the Hootch above Atlanta. They are great table fair! That's a pretty good size one too.
