deer hunting vests for fishing

Post by Rhettley »

When I was stuffing my emergency box with flairs, ARC ResQlink, flashlight, quickclot, waterproof bandages, whistle, etc., I ran across some cheap blaze orange deer hunting vests and thought it would be a good idea to have those too. My life jackets are blue and most of my fishing shirts are white or a shade of blue or green which isn't easy to see in the water. I figured the blaze orange vests might help get a person spotted should the worse happen. 3 or 4 only take up a tiny amount of space if left packed in the original bag.

Good idea Rhett. Is that something you would wear or use as a flag? I only have the orange square pfd's. Have y'all ever noticed that the fellas that catch sharks on fly seem to almost always use a blaze orange fly?

I've had them in my ditch bag for years. I also carry a plastic sheet orange 3x3 distress flag (only a couple of bucks @ Academy). Its unfolds into a large distress flag that floats on top of the water.
