CARL AND I LAUNCHED THE BARGE AT THE LIGHTHOUSE POOL THIS MORNIN ABOUT 7:30. THERE WAS A STIFF BREEZE OUT OF THE N.E. AT ABOUT 15 KNOTS. WAS SUPPOSE TO BE 8-15 OUT OF THE EAST AND S.EAST. WE FISHED THE USUAL SPOTS AND DID NOT CATCH A THING. WE WENT OVER TO THE W. FLATS AND TRIED THERE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND NOTHING. FINALLY WENT BACK IN FRONT OF THE LIGHTHOUSE AND I CAUGHT 1 12" TROUT AND ONE 8" BLUE. LOST ABOUT 5-6 JIGS , I BELIEVE WERE BLUES. DOLPHINS EVERYWHERE, PELICANS DIVING ALL OVER THE PLACE BUT I DID NOT SEE ANY FISH STRIKING WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A SCHOOL OF SMALL REDS AROUND THE OLD DOCK IN FRONT OF THE LIGHTHOUSE. THE TEMP. WAS 62 WHEN WE FIRST GOT THERE AND ROSE TO 66 BY NOON. WE ATE OUR LUNCH AND LOADED UP AND HEADED BACK TO TALLY. I GUESS ONE OF YOU YOUNGER FELLAS WILL HAVE TO TAKE ME FISHIN AND TEACH ME HOW TO DO IT AGAIN, WE TRIED EVERYTHING IN THE BOX , I DO NOT BELIEVE THE TROUT ARE IN LIGHTHOUSE BAY. PA THE OLD MAN OF THE SEA
I'll go with you a couple of times. You show me where your fish'n, how your fish'n, what baits your using, etc. That will give me some information about what your doing wrong and we can work on the areas where you need improvement. I'm never too busy to help out one of our members.
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
Just goes to show, even the old timers have a bad day ever now and then. I know that won't stop ya from getting out there again, soon. Thanks for letting us know.
Been slow at St. Marks for me too (as usual). I went today and had better luck with the New Penny Gulp fished on the bottom with a 1/4 oz. jighead. Caught trout, spanish and even pinfish on them. As long as I was over grass, I caught fish in 3-5 ft. of water. Hope that helps......
