It probably don't count if you just own a couple of rods and 2 1/2 reels with BB taper on em does it??
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

Capt Reggie,

I am a long time saltwater fisherman (west coast, southern California, and Baja), as well as a long time fly fisherman (Utah, Colorado, and now Georgia), but I am just putting the two together (saltwater fly fishing). I would be interested in:

A discussion on lines - floating vs. sinking, as well as the myriad of different tapers available, tropical vs. non tropical, etc.

Leaders - Buy, or make yourself. If homemade, what are good leader recipes. Leaders for Reds/Trout vs. Tarpon (Main leader, class tippet, shock leader, etc.).

Fly selections for various species.

Proper retrieves for different flies/species.

Equipment (Will a $40 Hobbs Creek reel from Bass Pro Suffice, or do you need a Tibor Quick Change).

More line chunkers than I thought...Anyone else?

TaxPhd - You can get Basspro CV2 for about $20 :lol:

I got mine from Biscayne Bay Fly Shop for about $60 - SA Redfish 7 wt

Yeah, I know, but I have cast enough cheap lines in my life to not do that anymore. I just spooled up my Nautilus with a Rio Tropical Clouser. Casts real nice.

I heard that Rio quickshooter line was good to load quickly....That's kinda what the SA Redfish does, but it's not been to good for distance...Thinking of trying some SA Saltwater or Bonefish for better distance.

I fly fish in freshwater (Lake Blackshear) but when I'm on the flats I am usually on someone else's boat and let the captain determine how and where we will hunt fish. Anxious to try some fly fishing from the kayak but haven't yet (except in the lake).
If there's no soccer (or fishing) in heaven - I'm not going!

I HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO DO THIS, SEVERAL YEARS BACK IT WAS ALL I DID. I KNOW PREFER THE SMALLER FLY RODS FOR THE FRESHWATER.

MY BROTHER IS STILL A DIE HARD. HE LIKES CATHING THEM BIG TARPON. HE'S FAIRLY EXPERIENCED AT ALL THE INS AND OUTS OF THAT SORT OF FISHING. I TRIED IT ONCE, THROWING A 12 WEIGHT AINT EASY.
