St. George Island 06/9-10

Saturday morning I lazy-fished from shore on the Gulf side. Caught 6 really nice whiting, couple of sharks, couple of blues, and a catfish. Everything caught on the incoming morning tide. Once it hit high at 10:30, the bite was completely off.

Sunday I decided to try this kayak fishing thing I keep reading about. Went to the state park and put in at the first ramp just at noon on the falling tide. Straight out from the ramp is a maze of oyster bars. Paddled around for a while trying to get used to the kayak, and then started casting. There were plenty of mullet around, looked plenty fishy. Sure enough, after about 30 mintues of casting with no luck, BAM got a huge hit. 20 minutes later, I've got a 34+ inch red next to the kayak. Revived and released. That was the only fish for the day, but I certainly enjoyed the motorless fishing. Can't wait to try it again.

Glad to hear you got some fish. We will be down Thusday, hope you have some of those Abita Ambers left. We will be staying on the East End so I was thinking about trying my hand at some of that motor-less fishing also. Looking forward to seeing you down there, we'll catch some food and drink some  .
