Original plan was to hit the water at first light, but stayed out late with the missus and slept in. Put the boat in about 10:00 to fish during the hot part of the day
Pretty slow day. Caught three redfish, two over the slot and one under. Three trout, all in the slot.
Played tug of war with a very nice flounder who decided to give up the contest right at the boat. Apparently I never had him hooked. He was just a greedy SOB that wasn't going to let go until he realized he was about to go somewhere he really didn't want to be.
Jumped a few ladyfish and that was about it. Went out to 14' where I've been catching some trout lately but there was a stiff breeze and it was pretty miserable. Two casts and no bites so I called it a day about 6:00.
A crap load of scallopers and from what I could pick up on the VHF, at least some of them had success. Marine Patrol out in force too but they must have been more interested in the scallopers. Said hello to them in the canal and they didn't try to check me.
Redfish on gold spoon when the tide started falling, trout on gulp jigs just before high tide.
