speargun recomendations/help

Post by killswitch »

My son wants one for his birthday, and was looking for some input from you guys with some experience. Just a nice gun that will last him a while.
Do not need a top of the line, but also want to avoid the cheap stuff. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tony

Anyone got a used gun for sale? :-D

Depends on your budget.

I would recommend a Spearfishing Specialties 48" rhino lined gun. It will do most of what you want in our area. If you can afford it, get the commercial model. The commercial muzzle is much better.

If you feel like splurging move up to a 52" commercial. With very little TLC either gun should last 20 + years. I bought mine used 2 years ago and have only replaced the bands (and a couple of spears).

Thanks, Tom
I'll start checking around and see what I can find. Any idea who handles the sea hornet ? No info on their web page about dealers. Thanks

Coral Reef Scuba in Tallahassee carries them. If you email Kevin Bruington who owns SS, he should be able to help you.

I have a SS 48 Rhino for sale if you are still looking. It is an awesome gun but I already had 3 before I won this one in a tourney 2 weeks ago. I will take $225 + shipping for it.
