Went to St Joe friday, picked up 5 gals or so of scallops, all I wanted to clean....and plenty to eat. S-SE of BI. Found this awsome shell, took some pics, and returned it to the bottom. I really don't know what kind of a shell it is....had a bright orange inside.
Must of been about 14-16" long.....

Horse conch, Pleuroploca gigantea. I recommend you leave the live ones to live on. A shame to kill them for the shell. Can be eaten, but is not the same conch commonly eaten in the Carribean (queen conch).
Thanks guys...I thought it was some kinda conch...but not the "regular kind"....don't worry, it made it safely back to the bottom. It would be a shame to remove something that cool from it"s home.
