Savannah - which way to go?

Post by RodBow »

Anyone go to Savannah?

Is it better to go 10 - 295 - 95 or
how is it going via Valdosta on the "back roads"

The 1st clocks at 300 mi @ 4.5 hrs and the 2nd clocks at 265 mi @ 4.5 hrs.

I always go the backroads. Valdosta to Waycross to Savannah. Good roads, nice scenery. Only problem is you will lose cell signal in some places. Good luck to ya and if you decide to come through Thomasville, Barney and Adel( just as fast) , Ill draw you a map if you stop by the store! Safe trip!! BB

I learned not to go this way after recieving two speeding tickets on the same trip, so now I stay on the interstate. :x

I've done 84 to 95 and I've done interstate all the way. Interstate's faster from Tallahasse; but, it's the Interstate.

I go from Valdosta to Waycross then to just before Brunswick I believe it 99 north to the exit for Darion then 95.

If you go near Hinesville or Homerville your getting a ticket if your speeding,
Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?

WAM's right about where to get the tickets. If you go this way, thats where to slow down.

I have been driving that route for 15 years and the way with the least stop and go is 10 to 295 to 95. I have gone the 84 way many a time and only enjoyed it at 3-5 in the morning. Lots of speed limit changes, and stopping.

Speed limit went from 55 to 25 in about 100 yards, and I was trying to get to Savannah for Saint Patricks day. I did buy a scratch of GA lottery ticket and won $250 which almost covered my tickets. By the way thats the only 2 speeding tickets i've gotten in 15 years of driving. Knock on wood.

I make that trip regularly. Doesn't matter which route you take, the time's the same. Take the interstate.
What was I supposed to do today?

Went the I route going - wish I had come back that way. BORING! At least on the I route, there's always the 80/80 challenge - who's the best jockey through the speed limit observers!

Got to appreciate Moma's new Nav - specially when I had to kick it to 95 to get around a pack near Homersville...
