Gluing carpet to aluminum hull - what to use

Post by BlindHog »

I need suggestions on what to use to glue indoor/outdoor carpet down in the floor of an aluminum boat.

I have used what Lowes sells once and it was a pain. (Trowel and can)

How about one of the Liquid nails products (caulk tube) ?

It has been several years ago since I used it, but there is a glue made for the indoor/outdoor carpet that is applied with a brush. If I remember right it is a brown color and a little "rubbery" when applied. I put it on my aluminum john boat and it lasted for a long time. Most recently, I used the same thing on my Mom's porch ~ 2 yrs ago and it is still holding well. I purchased the glue and carpeting at Lowes.

Good luck.

Thanks. Found out my can of outdoor carpet glue was still good despite being 18 mos old, so I used it. Had figured it would be hardened. Cheap as I am, and ugly as my boat is, this was fine.
