Stress on Transom From Jack Plate
General question: Was wondering if the extra distance created between the transom and the motor when a jack plate is installed creates extra stress on the transom? As I look at the motor set back, it would seem like there is potential for added stress. Anyone know, or am I the only one who doesn't know the answer?

You are the only one
It can add a little more stress, but the entire transom is built to a standard and designed to take a certain amount of torque and stress, usually much more than needed.
The jack plate bolts to the same holes as your engine...The jack plate is designed to hold the engine, the transom is designed to hold the engine...It will be fine Devil Dawg

To answer your question, yes the jack plate does add extra stress to the transom because of the added distance. Think moment and fulcrum - you know, like a see-saw - the further you are from the pivot point, the less force it takes to move the other end.
But like others have said, most transoms are over built and can take it without any issues.
