I fished Wed, Thurs, and Fri at St Joe. We caught a butt load of 16" trout. I posted the pics of the better trout earlier. We totaled 4 reds. The wind blew alot. BD tells a better story. :-D

We eased on down to the area that had been somewhat productive on Thursday. Once again the wind was pretty fierce. I maneuvered the boat upwind of an interesting looking hole and power poled down. We began casting our topwater baits into these holes doing our best to aggravate a redfish into biting. We started picking up a few trout, a couple of these pushing 17" ( :o ) when a good red exploded on my He-Dog. Finally. But wouldn't you know it. 1st one of the day and its on my line. I knew it would happen that way. No big deal I thought, I'll show my Uncle how its done and he can get the next 1. We get the red in the boat and its an easy 26" fish.

We continue to work the sand holes. Catching a trout or 2 and actually having a couple more reds roll up on our topwater baits, but we failed to hook up. This lasted for a couple of hours until I decided to start drifting some secondary spots.

We ran back up to some water that still had the spotty bottom but was about a foot deeper than the 2' water we had been fishing. We made several drifts catching more junk and short trout, but seeing no sign of redfish.

By 3:00 we had had enough and decided to pack it in. Barhopr had invited us to eat with him, Chalk, Eerman, and their respective families. So we headed to the Plywood Palace to get cleaned up and chill for a while.

The day's fishing was a bad as I ever remember it at SJB. I still believe the fish are there. We didn't see any evidence of red tide. I think our bad luck could all be blamed on too much water in the bay and a weak tide.

so we get to the Plywood Palace, get cleaned up, and crack open a few beers. Likker would have been more appropriate after the day we had. My Uncle was still positive about the fishing. He kept telling me we'll get em tomorrow. But I had my doubts.

We drank a few beers then headed down to Casa de Barhopr. And what do you know, we're having Low Country Boil. Sounds good to us. I could eat shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn every night. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the company, however I learned 2 very important things at Barhopr's house Friday night. Number 1....Don't be late or else beware of what his Mother may serve you to eat and Number 2 ....Eerman should always have plenty of ice cream on hand.

We headed back to the Plywood Palace pretty early. The company was great, but the hard days fishing had really taken it's toll on me. Before I left I talked with Chalk about what I should do the next day. My Uncle had to leave around midday so I had to get it done quick. Chalk suggested Crooked Island Sound. He and I had had a pretty good day there a few weeks back. Thats sounded good to me. So that was the plan for the a.m. Hit Crooked Island Sound and finally put my Uncle on some reds.
