Econfina, day before Thanksgiving

Post by WaltDawg »

My brother-in-law and I made our second trip to Econfina. I had the day off and he was itching earlier in the week to go fishing, so as long as the weather cooperated we were ready to catch some fish. We got out on the water around 9:00.

We drifted around Rock Island for a little while waiting for high tide to cruise the oyster beds. We were catching keeper trout quick, but I also got a decent sized sea bass.

Around 10:30 we anchored close to the oyster bed near Rock Island. We tried topwater and popping corks w/gulp with no luck. We decided to start moving along the shore line and around the creek mouths. I got hold of a lone slot red.

We caught a few big trout in shallow water. Overall, limit of trout, 1 red and 1 sea bass.

Nice catch! That photo of rock island almost makes it look like one of those tropical islands with the native women.

Oh well, we can dream....

Just a note: That kodak site sucks for picture hosting....
