Re: Aucilla in the AM
We put in at 6:30, Jared needed to be back in T-ville by 12:30.
It was a bit cool riding out to the mouth. We went west from the mouth and started fishing in as close as we could. The water had already gotten real shallow. So shallow in fact that trying to run the trolling motor would only bump fish (reds we think). We fished hard for two hours in close with no hook-ups. Jared and I both had several blow up on top water but some how avoid being hooked.
Not wanting to go home skunked, we decided to go to plan B. We moved out and found some good bottom in 3.5' - 4' water. Started catching trout almost immediately. We caught what would have been a nice two man limit in about 45 minutes. The trout were caught on soft plastics. Color, shape and size didn't seem to matter. It was a dang feeding frenzy.
Side note: While we were moving out of one creek I saw a trout in about 1.5'. If this fish wasn't 30" then he/she was 29.75".

thanks for the report. It's good to hear that the trout are out on the flats in February. Crazy though.

Re: Aucilla in the AM
These fishing reports are making me feel worse than normal about not being on the water. Very nice.
