Finding schools of reds

Post by jrbennett »

I sometimes see schools of I come to believe may be mullet because they do not hit my shrimp. How can you tell the difference between a school of mullet from a school of reds.

Size, shape, color of the fish and how they move or relate to each other while moving. I think that reds are sometimes more organized than mullet.

Redfish make a larger wake that you can see for a long distance. Mullet typically make a small wake that goes away quickly.

There is no mistaking a redfish tail. You will definitely know it when you see it. If there is any question, then it is probably mullet.
