Went South of 24 on some good bottom that has produced good fish in the past and was hoping for more of the same. First drop I had a good bite and pulled up a 20lb ray
Man dem things got tough mouths, bent up a #7 circle trying to get the hook out. Got retied and Game on. Proceeded to catch a just short Gag on every drop for the next hour or so, then it shut down. Me and my son must of boated 25 or so in a short span. Iv'e never had a bite so furious,arms like rubber, i was sorta glad it was over. Sat down and had a bite to eat, then it was Rock bass/Pink mouth time. Caught 20 nice bass up to 16" and bunches of KWGrunts for bout 2 hrs then decided the bigger Groupers were deeper so ran south to 45 ft. No such luck, nothing but the same. Did get holed 5 times and had a runaway freigt train that I never slowed with 50lb PP. Bite was steady all day long with about 40 Gags boated with out 1 damn Keeper
Where are all the Red Grouper? Didn't catch the first one . Would of had a limit if Gags were Red with all the 21.5" fish We caught. Seas were OK, 2-3 at sun-up tapering off to 1-2 in afternoon, water temp 65.5 all day. Bait was L-Y's, mackerel , squid and cut grunts with best bite on squid and cut bait. Had a blast with my sons.couldn't ask for more
