I am seriously considering another boat. BB's paid for so I want to keep her for fishing with my buddies and tourneys. Im looking for a boat thats reasonably dry, decent price, and fuel efficient. I want something In the 16-18 ft range that can easily be trailered and will be ideal for a quick trip. I want a boat that if I get tired of it , I can turn it and not lose my arse. Just kind of a hook up and go boat. I want a boat thats super skinny, large casting platforms front and rear and a poling platform. Ive fished off Seaspots boat and I like it. I would probably be looking for something like that , maybe a little lighter. I think I would prefer a glass boat and I know I dont want a flat bottom boat. Nothing against you Carolina skiff guys but I dont have a hemorhoid problem nor do I want one!! Any and all ideas are welcome and pictures would be great. Anyone who has a boat like this for sale (less than three years old) for sale, Im open to options. Ive been surfing the net for Egrets and Hells Bay but I have a fifty thousand dollar boat, really dont need another one! What kind of boats are there out there that are comparable but not so dang expensive?? Also, whats the lightest most efficient motor?? I love my Optimax but its far from fuel friendly!!(At least running her during tourneys isnt) Again, any and all ideas are welcome. Thanks, BB

BB-
Whats your budget? Until you cut on my boat I was going to say a Skiff.
There are always used ones out there for less than 10K.
My 30hp 4 stroke burns less than 2 gallons a trip.
It is stable and safe.....
I know you think it would beat you up but its not bad.
One other thought- Panga....

I liked it so much, I bought the company
There is a 17 or 18 foot action craft for sale in PSJ. The owner is a charter captain and the has taken very good care of the boat. If you are interested let me know and I can find out the rest of the info. I think he is asking 16,500 for it.

I dont really have a budget. Im looking for a certain boat and I guess Ill know it when I see it. And B, I promise Im not knockin on your boat. I ve fished skiffs and they are generally great, very utility efficient boats. Ive just had a bad experience with me , CT, and my old room mate in a two foot chop and CT wound up in my lap. That two gallons a trip sounds cool.

Hey BB I'm sort of in the same situation as you. I'm heading overseas here in a couple of weeks and have been doing some research on boats for when I return. I plan on moving to Charleston, SC when i return so the area has something to do with the type of boat I'd buy. SC is notorious for huge tide changes as much as 8-9ft between lows and highs. I need a boat that will float in spit if need be. So here is my list of potential boats:
1. Back Country 151 or 171 pro guide (not made anymore so it would be used) Chalk sell me your boat!!!
2. Ranger 169 Ghost
3.Dolphin 18 backcountry
4.Hewes Redfisher 16 or 18 tons of storage and front deck space
5. Triton 1860 CC aluminum same boat casey cook guides out of
Granted any boat I buy will be used and I would repower with an Etec. Nothing against other motors i just like the etec. My dad has run an etec on his stratos bass boat for over two years now with no one single problem. With me 250lbs, dad 180lbs, full tank of gas, and gear we had that bad bamajama up to 79mph and it still had more to give!
Now i just need to find a vehicle to tow it with!!
BB-you have mentioned several criteria, but the key ones picked up on were glass, light, fuel efficient, reasonably priced.
Off the top of my head I would say Dolphin, Beaver Tail and ECC. Should find something on one of their webpages that will get headed in the right direction. Good luck

Thanks guys. I just got back form looking at an Egret. Nice boat but again, pricey. It has a 150 Yamaha vmax on it. He wanted 18k for it. I know its probably worth it but I think I can probably buy a similar boat without the name tag that I can write a check for and not feel guilty in the morning!!!
