Redfish? St. Marks
What has been the best way to catch reds . Which flies and what lures or baits are working. I'm looking for any advice to get some reds in the cooler
Re: Redfish? St. Marks
Fish shallow. Throw topwater, hard jerk baits, soft jerk baits, spinnerbaits, a gold spoon, or a grub. They'll bite everything. The key is fishing where the fish are.

Redfish have a really small brain. All they really think about is sex, food, and comfort. If you understand the tides you will do well.
Baitfish move with the tides which is why slacktide can suck a lot of times. If the tide is going out understand that the fish know this, the
baitfish will be moving out as well, because they don't have the strength to fight the tide. Redfish will know all of this and will be around creek mouths.
Once the tides start moving back in the baitfish will be forced to go back into a creek because once again they can't fight the tide.

Make sure you don't make too much noise to catch a redfish also. They are easily spooked. If you make too much noise, you might never see them, and even if you do they might not bite anything. troll and pole when you get in redfish territory, and only troll if you have a quiet trolling motor.
Aside from creeks, find them in little eddies around oyster bars on the incoming and outgoing tides, or along pretty much any grassline. When they're not ambushing bait in creeks or on oyster bars, they're running up and down the grass lines in the shallow water sucking up bait fish. You can blind cast, but when they run up and down the grass lines, they tend to make quite a wake. If you see that, throw a soft bait right in front of their path and work it slow.

Mookbait! At least 401 times better than live bait!
