A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
Popped out of bed this morning, and decided to chase the old man I have been after since last year. Due to the heavy fog, I figured I could get a little closer to the roosting area.
I lightly called just enough to get the hens cackling. Then shut up (Less is more) 30 minutes later a hen flew down almost in my lap….and just behind her the old timer pitched out gobbled once on the ground. Then strutted all the way up a hill spitteeen and drumeeen the whole way. Then I officially introduced myself…

KyTrkyHntr,
Don't make me have to come up there and bail you out for hunting on the Mammoth Cave property!
I had to go up to Edmonson County for a funeral a couple of months ago and I cut through the park on my way back home. There were turkeys and deer everywhere. It's hard to imagine that, growing up there in the 50s, I never saw a deer or a turkey.

LOL! That would be a hot spot!!! It's loaded with birds. The Ky Dept of Fish & Wildlife and the NWTF have done a great job increasing the bird population in our state.
Sorry you had to make a trip up here for under those circumstances.... Next time you're up this way shoot me a e-mail and I'll buy you some Split Tree BBQ for lunch!
