St. Joe Bay 5/2-3

Post by sanblaslayer »

Went down this weekend anticipating good fishing, but was greeted by 20 kt winds Friday. Nobody was in a fishing mood but we eventually picked up two catfish and a small red. Saturday we planned on going to the tip for pompano, but the winds were blowing so we decided to not get soaked and stuck around in the head of the bay. First fish boated was a 23 inch red by my sister on a gold spoon.

A few moments later my sister's brother in law lands a fat 26.

We then moved further south and positioned ourselves around some huge threadfin pods to catch some trout. We caught many shorts along with and 18, 17, 20, and a fat 25 1/2. This picture does no justice.

A slow weekend in my regular stomping grounds, but the fish we got were quality, and a lot of fun.

I'd say that pic does it some pretty good justice...that's a sweet fish. The others aren't bad either. Those fish eat well over there.
