Garmin GPS MAP 276C Battery . . .

Post by Pinocchio »

Them's whut gottun:

1. About how many years ya get out o 'em? 1250mAh and 2200mAh?
2. Any tips on makin' 'em last longer?
3. Where ya get ya replacement bat-tries? Ever use: batteryship.com ?
4. If ya ever go from coordinates (lat/long) from Google Earth to Blue Chart -- is thar an easy way to do it without havin' to get Google Earth coordinates then manually enter them into the Blue Chart software then download to the 276C?

Thanks!

Pinocchio,

I can't answer many of your questions, but I've had my 276c for about 2 years now and haven't had any battery problems. I'm not sure on the Google Earth question...I always just manually enter mine into the GPS. It's a pain in the butt. I look forward to seeing other's responses so I can learn more about the 276.

I've had a 376c for about 2 years. no bat. problems. Whether you use it or not I would hook up charger once a week to maintain. I am shipping my unit off today because of an apparent leak in the gasket has cause some corrosion and it crapped out on me. Word of advice, take the back off once or twice a year and treat the gasket with some silicone grease. $86 to rebuild and 12 days to get it back. :smt010

276c battery 4 plus years old no problem. Get the accessory power cord also. Battery must be in machine for power cord to work wether the battery is charged or not.
Google Earth Plus allows GPS coordinate downloads.
Google Earth FREE does not.

Thanks, errybody! I got a place I put my 276C that's way worse than a fish camp and it slipped behind some boxes and went out of sight. For several years I went fishing with others who had mounted GPS/fishfinders and weren't even interested in my BlueChart stuff anyway so when I did find it a week ago the battery was dead and wouldn't recharge. It went uncharged for about 3 years and I was wondering if, uncharged, it'd soon die forever which is what I got now. I ordered a 2200 mAh replacement for $37.30 w/shipping and wanted to know how you doods keep yours going. I only have the freebie Google Earth so I'll just manually take some locations from it. I got v6 BlueChart and I'm sure there's a later version(s) but I doubt there's much or any new stuff for the Big Bend. Anybody know otherwise?
