gas almost $4.00/gal cannot afford to go to coast
As above so I am looking for local Gadsden county fishing spots besides Lakes Talquin and the big S. Talquin (seem as big as my Yak) gators just are not afraid enough for me to enjoy being there.

Yeah, I've read everywhere how statistically "safe" it is to kayak around gators but the first few times I took mine down to the Ochlocknee I had multiple big-a$$ gators surface right beside me. They appeared to just be looking and trying to figure it out, but if they don't know to be scared of it, then I'm with you. Stick to a boat. Not sure about other Gadsden fishing, though.

Alligators can jump out of the water a distance that is equal to their body length. How deep a kayak do you plan on using?

I had one Sunday swim right up to the boat and keep trying to catch my lure every time I retrieved it
I finnaly had to crank up and leave to get rid of him

Re: gas almost $4.00/gal cannot afford to go to coast
Just found out that all private pond owners in Gadsden County have quit allowing people to fish. Even the interlake pay to fish pond(s) have been allowed to dry up due to the dam failing. According to my source the owners just got tired of cleaning up the mess some people leave behind.
So that leaves Talquin and a few ponds on Gov land...sad. How long till Leon County owners follow suit? My source claims to know every land owner personally for years and her family cannot fish either.
Any one confirm all this

The station manager where I buy gas told me that they expect 5-6 dollars by July 4 and 7-8 by Labor day and 10 by Christmas.
He also told me some things I didnt know such as. Most stations dont "own" the gas they sell and as such make 3 cents "profit per gallon. Thats profit before paying for the electicity for the pumps. Those station that "own" the gas get 25 cents per gallon. He went to a managers meeting in Jax and they calculated that if the major oil companies just gave up half of their billions in profits that the consumer would only be paying 50 cents per gallon for gas. Time for fuel cells.....dare I say it governmennt ownership of petroleum industry....after all its OUR natural resource.
Sorry this I guess relates to more than fishing.
