water hazards around Alligator Point

This is new water to me and planning on doing some boating and fishing in this area. Any area I need to be aware of?
Any tips on were to fish for trout or anything else?

I unfortunately know that the alligator point bar goes a long way out from the tip... Follow the channel .
There is also a poorly marked oyster bar on the green side of the channel not far from the marina.

Other than that Oyster bars in the back of the bay and some near 98.... lots of sand bars.
The water is usually stained so they are hard to see....
How big is your boat?

Fishing spots- turkey point shoals, Dog Island Reef, grass flats off the point for trout/macks/ BSBs and the like
Shoreline / bars for reds and trout.

IF YOU WANT TO STEER CLEAR OF ROCKS GO TO THE LIGHTHOUSE LAUNCH AND GO EAST OR WEST FOR SEVERAL MILES AS LONG AS YOU STAY A COUPLE HUNDRED YARDS FROM SHORE. KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR OYSTER BARS IF YOU ARE WITHIN 2 HOURS OF LOW TIDE. WE WENT OUT YESTERDAY JUST SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE HIGH TIDE AND FISHED TILL 2 P.M. WHICH WAS JUST 1 HOUR OFF LOW TIDE AND THE WATER REMAINED THE SAME HEIGHT ALL DAY LONG, VERY LITTLE TIDE MOVEMENT. THERE IS A BAR GOING EAST OF THE BIRD ROOST FOR 3-400 YARDS TOWARD THE #1 STAKE, THIS IS A WIDE BAR SO DO NOT GET CAUGHT ON IT AT LOW TIDE.

Go at a strong low tide so you can see the oyster bars. They are marked pretty well with stakes though. It gets pretty shallow east of turkey point.

Thanks for the info. My ride is a 16 center console, fish and ski barge ( tarpon 16). It runs in some skinny water but want to keep all my parts and not leave anything on the rocks or bars.

Saw a boat like yours at Anky last weekend...blue and white....love fish and ski barges....my current one is rebuilt 1700 flats master!

IMO...

The bay is not very good fishing unless your around the oyster bars in the back targeting redfish, which are easy to see (the bars that is). There is one sandbar coming out into the bay from the canals that can get you at low tide but is very skinny, almost like a speed bumb. There is a sandbar outside of the channel in front of the marina, the channel is marked well, follow it. The point extends underwater down close to St. T Beach so be careful around there at lowtide. There are no rocks, nothing that will rip your boat open. the flats around Turkey Point Shoal and the D.I. Reef are both very good inshore spots. The Oasis at the marina has good food, cold beer, and lots of BS.

That was me and my father at the Econfina. We did alright caught fish both days. This trip was about more than catching fish. Almost lost my father last year and we enjoyed just being together.
