Thread Question

Post by sundown »

I've been diligently trying to learn to tie some decent flys this week. I still got to git a decent vise but for the time being a pair of small vise grips, piece of 2 x 4 and a C clamp are sufficing. Question is, what do most of you tyers use for thread for flys like clousers, deceivers, ect? I got 6/0,3/0,GSP,210,140, Walmart carpet and canvas ect..I've been using more 3/0 than anything else but have started to use the 210 more and it seems to be easier to work.especially in close places.
This tying is getting addictive. I had about decided to hook up and try to be behind Patty's Island at full tide in the morning to try some of em out but Grandson put an end to that..He wants to go to the farm and fish in the pond. So...guess that's the plan now ! :-)

Mainly flat waxed nylon, 3/0, 280, 210...I mainly buy by color though...bought a lot of four strand threads off ebay, don't buy that stuff it's horrible.
