Been looking for a boat for a while now. Actually just waiting on the right deal. May have found one, but I wanted to find out if anybody had any experience with this particular boat. Key West Bay Reef 186 03 w/ 115 Yamaha 4 stroke (only 14 hours on the motor). I have two girls ages 3 yr. and 5 mo. , so I need a fairly safe boat. Would prefer something that could float a little shallower, but a boat for the family is more important at this point.
Anybody have any info on this boat. Looks brand spanking new. Was purchased new in Perry, FL. from Wayman at (Perry Marine???).
I offered them 6000 less than what they were asking, and they just laughed at me. Any help would be a appreciated.

Wayman is at Jack's Boats in Perry and from what I hear is a heck of a guy.

Re: Key West Bay Reef 186
I have a key largo 186c and its layout is almost identical to this Key West. The only thing I would look for is to see if the 115 is too heavy and the back of the boat sits too low in the water. You will know if the self bailing ports are below the water line. Other than that I love mine but it floats in 8in of water, I dont know if the keywest is that shallow or not, but I only have a 60 on mine. Hope that helps.
Re: Key West Bay Reef 186
I had a 186 BayReef. It's a heck of a boat for it's size. It draws between 12" and 14" of water. It's very stable, and handles rough water well. You would be pleased with the rig.
What was I supposed to do today?
Re: Key West Bay Reef 186
Marty, That boat is the cousin to my Sea Pro V1900CC....I could not be happier with mine. If I had to complain about something it would have to be the hole shot with the 4 stroke 115HP. But the trade off is how sweet the 4 stroke runs not to mention the gas mileage...I'll live with the less than ideal hole shot. I, like you, enjoy other types of boating other than just flats fishing and these type boats offer that. I am also a big fan of the Key West Brand. I think you would be very pleased with that boat. If it turns out your not, at least you have a very popular model that should not be hard to move. Feel free to give me a call should you want to talk more about it. I have studied up on the Key West Bay and Reef boats a good bit.
