Dive Mask?

Post by saltycrab »

What dive masks does everyone use and like? I am not certified to dive yet, but love to snorkel for scallops, and the cheap walmart US Diver brand(s) just aren't cutting it. We stopped in the Dive shop in Tally this weekend, and tried on all of the high-end masks. Out of all of them, I liked the Scuba Pro, as they were the softest, and felt the best while on. The prices were a little higher than I anticipated. Any cheaper brands anyone could comment on?

Thanks guys! :-D

Get an Oceanic Shadow Frameless. Just as nice as the Scuba Pro and about half the price. I own both so I know.

Hmm, maybe I should hurry up and just buy the Suba Pro Fino's as they are on sale for the same price in Tally, $69? :-?

Find a mask that fits your face, doesn't leak and is comfortable and buy it.

How do I know if it doesn't leak without buying it?

You put it on your face and suck in. It should stick without having the strap around your head.

I have a Mares Opera - but it's quite a few years old so don't know if they even make it any more - it's a weird fit and I have a weird face so it was best for me, but maybe not for you...do like Keels says...he's 1000% right

This brings up something I wondered about. I have a mustache, and have some problems with leakage around it just under my nose. Do you guys with mustaches shave a little spot right under the nose, or use some kind of wax sealer? Just wondering how to get it to seal up tight.

I make sure to keep mine trimmed close, but I normally don't have a problem. I know some folks who use Vaseline to help make the seal.
