Re: gustav
Lets hope there is nothing coming from the west to steer it toward here.
Re: gustav
If it follows the latest track and emerges into the Gulf just off the western tip of Cuba this weekend residents in a large of the area of the Gulf will have one heck of a headache a few days later....ak man wrote:Mark my words.........this one's coming
Re: gustav
I fear that it will come around Cuba, off the Yucatan, then sit in the Gulf while it builds and tries to decide where to go next.

Re: gustav
rarely if ever does one go through the yucatan and then come here. i think were ok. i hope so anyway. i dont normally fear the reaper but we sure as hell dont need more rain or a storm surge....
Re: gustav
It will go into Texas or Mexico
High presure should build over the SE and block it by the predicted track
just my opinion of course

I didn't mean go through the Yucatan, but rather between Cuba and the Yucatan. Putting it out in the Gulf. Hopefully, it will stay away for a bit. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.kikstand454 wrote:rarely if ever does one go through the yucatan and then come here. i think were ok. i hope so anyway. i dont normally fear the reaper but we sure as hell dont need more rain or a storm surge....

Re: gustav
On the flip side. also just as rare is that one gets this far north and continues on to the west. They all turn north or northeastward.....kikstand454 wrote:rarely if ever does one go through the Yucatan and then come here. i think were ok. i hope so anyway. i dont normally fear the reaper but we sure as hell dont need more rain or a storm surge....
The ones that go through the Yucatan are further south at this point....
This one looks like a replay of the 1851 storm, which also was a cat 3 at landfall near Panama City (Which was not there then

It don't look to good....

Re: gustav
It will not be going to old mexico, it will hit between N.O. and Pensecola. The feds are already staging personnel in Mobile for disaster relief. I don't like it, but dat's the truuf.

They have moved the cone of danger further to the west.
