Vintage Poonage - Key West - wish I was there :smt010

I believe the white boat being poled from the bow is Jimmy Buffet's prototype Maverick hull the boat that lead to the creation of the master angler. That boat is at IFGA museum in Ft. Lauderdale.

I'm sure you could hang with them- but you would need to grow your bangs out

That film has some really cool footage. It was just as cool as when I saw it months ago  Brings back some memories of fishing St. Marks back in the 70's with my dad and uncle. They used to put me and my brother on the front of the boat with cane poles fishing with scrimps under a cork!!! They fished off the back with Zebco 33's, 808's or a 202. We used to fill the cooler by lunch back when I think it was 15 trout per person :o Now, that's the boat I'm fishing out of with my boys (1975 Glastron V-156) just not out of St. Marks

i've yet to land the megalops, i accidentally found myself in a huge school of them at the mouth of the aucilla late in the summer, one knocked a topdog out of the water and showed his massive silvery head, i freaked out, was a good day.just had fun watching them roll, it made my week. they are majestic.

Just think of how expensive it is today to do the same exact thing with the same exact equipment. They probably had a few hundred dollars invested in the boat, reels, etc. A new Master Angler today = 50,000+ :smt010 :smt010

Boat was built for Guy and later gifted to Mr. Booffay as they are friends. GDLV lives near Havana and still fishes poonage, but just jumps them then breaks em off.

GUY V. is the one who discovered Mr. Buffett...Oh, to be on Duval St. in the '70's. There is another old classic of them jumping tarpon but best of all, they still do it today. Tarpon best fish by far on fly...of course my bonefish is right up there...I don't know what a third would be except it wouldn't be close.
