Curious Bout Where The $$$ Are Going?
Keep this one for your records! Here are the stimulus bill projects by state, subject to the revisions currently underway. Remember, there are no earmarks or pork in this.
For our friends in Kentucky, note that there is $500,000 for 1000 trees. Perhaps the Brooklyn Bridge is for sale too.
You may want to save this to show your kids and grand kids what we spent their money on.

I'm submitting for 25 million dollars so I can research low impact boat fishing on the Florida Gulf fish in a 25 year study. I may need some associate research assistants at a $1000 per week stipend. We will do a thourough investigation.

Does anyone else find it odd that Pelosi was all for it. With 1971 projects Callie must be in bad shape. FL and IL aren't real far behind but Callie has almost as mamy as those 2 combined.

Sickening. The change this country voted for cometh. On a local level, public housing will be "changing" out some old countertops for some shiny new ones . . . and creating zero jobs while doing it.

We all got what the majority asked for. Just wait, come June we'll see an extra $13.00 a week in our paychecks and in Jan we should get another $7.00 a week. That's a life changing amount of money ain't it? But this too shall pass, people are starting to figure out "dey check ain't comin" and maybe they screwed the pooch on this one.
If we all shut off CNN and every news channel we watch consumer confidence would go up and the stock market would strat to recover. But they're doing their best to scare us into burying money on the backyard.

im born and raised in south tally. i have fished, hunted, and spit copenhagen my whole life. i love charlie daniels, hank, and waylon. i love my guns and wont let anyone take them. if barrack tries to take our guns, i expect to have an uprising and i'll be there beside my brothers, and the sons of the confederacy. but, i think you guys need to look past our president being black, and i know that is what makes alot of you uncomfortable. give him a chance, he is for the people, he is for rebuilding this country. i find it ironic that noone on this board is democratic, i know most of you dont make over 250k a year so what is your point, i know it isnt fair to tax the wealthy, but this country is desperate. this country needs help period, and anyone making over 250k a year can find a way to compensate for the tax deduction and should help the cause in my opinion, since when did we become so greedy? especially the people that can make money with little effort. we cant rebuild this country while having half of it in poverty, it just wont happen. give our new president a chance, lets see what happens....i think he has good intentions. im hopefull it all works out in the end..for my kids sake. i dont like or respect handouts, but it has to be done to keep the train moving. i know i'll get bashed for this, but its how i feel, im trying to stay optimistic. god bless.............................your thoughts? see yall saturday @ keaton....yeaaahh!

G3 - All I can say is "Wow"!!! First I think that you have added the race card into this discussion. The fact that President Obama is black has nothing to do with the fact that I do not agree with his policies and politics. There were and are MANY black men whom I would gladly have voted for this past November..but they were not on the Republican ballot. You need to pay careful attention to what Obama says and stands for. Let's be clear...this is the most liberal President we have ever had. He stands for multiple things I disagree with...gun control and fiscal concepts probably being the most critical. He is a very dynamic and exciting speaker. But ask yourself what your true core values are and look to see what his very short voting record and declared values really are. I think you will be suprised to find that there is not much in common. I think that the wealthy have a right to their wealth...it's not very Amercan to take from those that have worked for and earned their income and hand it out to those sitting at home. There is a name for it...I think it's called "Socialism". The more we give the more they will become dependant upon it and the more that will have to be taken to support the programs established. Eventually the cost will trickle down to the average you and I who work very hard for our weekly paycheck. We allready pay a tremendous cost but there is simply no logical way to assume that the total cost of these programs will be on the top 1% when so much of the total Net Worth is controled by the middle class. So look close at what OUR money is being spent on and have no doubt that WE will pay for the majority of it. When there were prior bailouts they resulted in massive infastructure and value added projects that we all still enjoy the benafit from today. I don't see any such value in this bailout and that is what concerns me the most! Now...I am going to prep my boatfor this weekend but one day we will have to drink a beer, chew a lil' Cope, and really talk this one out

Re: Curious Bout Where The $$$ Are Going?
Race has absolutly nothing to do with anything G3. I am mainly upset that Obama has just spent a Trillion dollars we dont have to stimulate the economy but he basically gave it to the wrong people. Government is growing to big. They are trying to get their hands in everything now. This country didnt become the greatest country in the world in less than 300 years because of hand outs or bailouts. If my history is correct we came over from Europe to escape the rising taxes and gov. control. Less government has always been what has worked best. But now we can all try to explain to our children that their goal in life is to get good grades in school, work hard because everyone deserves a piece of what they work for. Spread the wealth right?
Good luck in keaton!

I would really love to respond to this, but it doesn't matter at this point. America was fore-warned about Barry and chose him anyway. He's a fraud and was only elected president much in the same way America selects the next "American Idol." On Novemer 4th we should have just texted in our vote. Barry is last season's David Cook. We'll learn a hard lesson with Barry, but I have faith in the great hardworking people that has made America what she is and has always been

Re: Curious Bout Where The $$$ Are Going?
Seems every time anything critical of Obama is said, the race card accusation comes out... I'm sick and tired of it. Best friend in the world is black, married to a caucasian female, and they have two beautiful, smart, gentle, and kind children. And guess what -- my friend voted for McCain. Know why? Because he looked past race and said he thought Obama was bringing socialist change to the country, and he was right.
G3, I'll fess up and say my wife and I are in the +250k group, but want to know what? No one put a silver spoon in our mouth. I started fresh out of college with a packaging job in a textile factory working for minimum wage. Worked my way up the ladder doing some really nasty jobs (card machine operator, heat press work, etc...) until almost 15 years later when I became a plant manager. I didn't do it any other way than working longer hours than other employee were willing to work and making great personal sacrifices while others chose to make fewer sacrifices. Didn't hate my peers for not competing for the jobs I filled but at the same time I don't think it's fair I be hated for having worked 70+ work week hours, 7 days a week, taking management classes outside job time, and having my tail be on the line when being judged on the performance of myself, my teams, and ultimately the factories I help lead.
My wife's a MD but you wouldn't have been able to predict it at her birth. She was adopted as an infant by a cafeteria worker and ceramic kiln repairman. She KILLED herself in school, studying while other kids partied, and ended up being first in her high school class. First person from her adopted family to ever go to college and again sacrificed partying to study dang near non-stop so that she would have a shot at med-school. Can remember her falling asleep studying night after night, only to awaken at 4am to keep studying. Graduated in the top 10% of her medical school class so that she could specialize in the medical field of her choosing. Now understand, despite studying harder than ANY human I've ever known she didn't get to earn/enjoy a salary until she was in her early 30's due to all the required medical training. The entire time we lived like paupers so we could not only pay her way through school but also start saving for our future. Didn't go out to eat at restaurants, didn't get cable, didn't go bowling, boating, fishing, or watch a single movie for almost a decade while many of our fellow high-school and college grad friends lived beyond their means. More than once I worked temporary jobs as we moved from location to location for her residency programs to keep us from taking welfare checks and living off others' sweat.
Took us both almost 20 years of hard, stressful paths to go from minimum wage jobs to six figures, and know what you probably would guess we've been selfish pigs with our money because we're evil rich folk now, but you would be wrong. We've been able to give jobs to some wonderful employees and have also had the wonderful opportunity of repaying her adoptive mother's kindness by employing her as well as her adoptive sister. AND last year, despite not being anywhere near as wealthy as VP Joe Biden we gave 5 times as much to local charities.
Your hateful envy of those that have succeeded is a misplaced and dangerous hatred. But all this said, I'm not losing sleep over those that might hate me and my wife for our hard work, financial success, and generosity. I'm greatly saddened and losing sleep not over any loss of riches I have or tax dollars I'm going to have to give to those that are learning not to do for themselves lest they be punished like I will be to pay more taxes... no, I'm sad because I greatly fear that my daughter won't live in the same US that allowed my wife to go from rags to riches, my father to go from being a sharecropper child to a successful businessman (who purposely DIDN'T give me money once I left the nest), or any of the other similar untold stories that have filled our 200+ year history, making our COUNTRY the most creative and successful known to history. The hate you're encouraging for those who have gone from rags to riches is no less offensive to me than the misplaced bigotry you are accusing many of us of having towards Obama, mistakenly believing we dislike him for his race. Bet money most everyone on this board voicing concerns over Obama would say they have no more love for Pelosi, Reid, etc... think most of us are equal opportunity socialism haters.

No, Dolphinatic, can't say we did, but we really are looking at buying a used industrial strength diamond grinder for $15k and doing free work on TC as a public service for the local community. Nothing else, keep Tom Keel's kids from screaming at the social!dolphinatic wrote:Did you guys get into the 250K bracket by doing TC facials![]()

Back to a serious note, Tom, you know the whole "hate those who succeed" just chaps my azz... you decide to give up fishing, sleeping, time with the kids, etc... to wash 5 times the vehicles of your competitors WHY IN THE HECK should you be punished with a higher percentage tax punishment? Bevis busts his balz to do the work of 10 other realtors, should he be punished? What kind of lessons is this going to pass on to our kids? Seriously, this past year I fished less than ever and haven't even been once this year... and now get told BOHICA, got to work dang near half the year to fund Uncle Sam before taking a penny for myself. Swear, isn't this tax philosophy what drove our patriotic founding fathers to sacrifice life and limb to escape?

Folks need to wake up and smell what the long term consequences of these punishing actions are going to be. SUPER wealthy (not talking 250k, but the billionaire types) don't hesitate to move to other countries where they can maximize tax advantages and have their businesses enjoy the most competitive tax breaks, and those of us who stay in the states can only be bled so much before we say to heck with it and decide to quit working so hard just to give the bulk of it away to fund government programs we don't necessarily believe in/support. Really worried about what the country is going to look like by the end of the year, much less four years from now. Know some folks will think I'm being a fatalist, but do the math on how many days the market can sustain 4% losses due to their total lack of faith in the stimulus plans and it doesn't take long at all to paint a bleak picture.
Anyone want to throw a local tea party, count me in.
