When you tax people more with incomes over 250k, you tax small businesses more. And there are more small business employers than big business employers. By increasing the burden on 250k earners, you decrease their motivation to make more money, and since the buck is always passed on to the consumer, you will be the one paying the extra tax burden because the small business owner will pass this extra tax on to you the consumer. SO, YOU are gettting taxed more.

Race ... I thought he was half honky ... the problem is that he is all donkey. Give the race card a rest, Jessee and Al have already made it too ragged.

I totally agree!!! I am not at the $250k mark yet, but I have been working toward getting to that point by growing my business (creating new opportunities for others along the way). With all of the money being spent by Congress and the President you have to wonder how long it will be before the $250k threshold becomes $200k then $150k and closer to where most of us live. This "Robin Hood" mentality of wealth redistribution might make me lower my ambitions, slow down the growth - and spend more time fishing!

My wife and her family come from Russia. She is now a FULL Republican and she has a unique insight into this situation. Having seen the fall of the USSR and the rise of capitalism since, she is firmly opinionated that unequal taxation of the wealthy drives down motivation to succeed. The USA excelled while the USSR failed thanks largely to the apathy that set in. People had no motivation to drive them to be exceptional (like BBG and wife) and only sought to meet the minimum requirements that were demanded. There was no reward for additional time and effort spent so why try? If those making greater than $250K know that they will loose half of their income to taxes then why should they even attempt to spend the resources needed to reach that mark? The wife and I aren't at that point yet but I sympathize because we are sure as heck trying! It is frustrating to think that I could spend 3/4 of my life trying to obtain success only to have half of it taken away and given to those that get to sit on their butts and watch TV all day. I was the first from my family to graduate college (and I did it without a penny from my parents) so I do not sympathize with those that say they are locked in a system and can't get out. Success in life in life is based on exceptional effort, personnel sacrifice, and hard work. It is critical to the future of our country that that not be stripped away. The wealthy make an easy target for the Democrats because it's easy say we'll just take it away from that minority...it damn sure doesn't make it right!

I reckon we are going to have to lean to distribute our income among family members to fall below the high taxes. If you have your own business it will be easier but doctors and lawyers might get stuck by it. I have a 11 year old nephew that I might put on out payroll for 95K a year!

Like it has been said before race has absolutely nothing to do with it, it's the politics and policies that are gonna kill us.
It's been said several times on this thread, why should I try to grow my small business (2 people, no payroll yet) when if and when it turns a larger profit just to lose half because some are too lazy to work and constantly biotch about "the system". That my friend makes my butthole wanna chew crackers.
If you tax the backbone, it won't take long for the backbone to go elsewhere. If you make it too expensive to make something here, then they'll go somewhere cheaper, charge the same price and make less taxable income. Simple as that. Put a time limit on welfare, unless you truly can not provide for yourself and at the end of the "free ride" period, you had better have something lined up. Too many give nothing back but EXPECT that check on the 1st.
I've worked from the plant to the office w/ an expense account because, like BBG and his wife, made the time to read and learn and work when nobody else wanted to.
Reach in my pocket for my hard earned dollar and you better have a plan to pay me back or plan on having a bloody wrist. My wife and I have worked too hard to give up where is the incentive?

HEY GYRENE, BOY YOU SAID JUST WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS. I LIKE YOU WORKED FOR 50 YRS., 16-18 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK TO HAVE A NICE HOME AND PUT ALL 5 OF OUR CHILDREN THROUGH COLLEGE. LUCKY WE WERE BLESSED WITH CHILDREN THAT LEARNED THEIR WORK ETHIC FROM THEIR PARENTS. TWO ENDED UP WITH DOCTORATES , ONE WITH A MASTER AND THE OTHER WITH B.S. DEGREES. ALL ARE DOING EXTREMELY WELL FINANCIALLY BUT LIKE ME, HAVE LOST THOUSANDS IN THE FALLING ECONOMY AND MARKET. I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR SAYING WHAT YOU DID, I FEEL THAT WAY BUT WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO SAY WHAT I THINK ABOUT OUR COUNTRY AND THE WAY IT IS HEADED UNDER THE DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP. I WAS IN THE MILITARY ALL THROUGH WW 2 AND FOUGHT ALL OVER THE PACIFIC OCEAN , I JOINED THE MARINES TO FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY, NOT BECAUSE I HAD TO GO, BUT FOR THE LOVE OF OUR COUNTRY AND WHAT IT MENT TO ME AND MY FAMILY.
THANKS AGAIN

Pa, friends thought I was crazy because I enlisted in the reserves at the ripe old age of 28, despite having a degree and a good job at the time. But I honestly felt so thankful for the blessings the Country had given me and my family that I felt it my duty to serve and protect the same freedoms for others. I think this may be why I'm so angered at the threats our past freedoms now face, as well as the making of villains out of those that have worked hard for success -- and your generation, THE GREATEST GENERATION, likely provided the highest number of such stories in the world's history.

This said, Pa, unlike you, I got my discharge papers after 8 years without getting the call to serve overseas. I say this as the thanks are due TO YOU and to all those with whom you served in harms way.

MANY, MANY thanks to you and Semper Fi indeed! salute3

If Bush was in office you guys wouldn't be saying a word about the stimulas money. Never saw you guys complaining when he was running up 6 trillion in new debt.
