3/13 Epic - photo intense

Post by KMamatey »

Staying in apalach for two days with the G.F. We launched at the bridge and ran out to the beaches. Weather was beautiful clear skies light west winds. Started by catching a couple whiting and flounder. Saw a big swirl...said hey throw your lure over there. Drag starts screamin, so I throw a top water and there are three wakes after it. End up with two reds 31 and 32. Get em unhooked and photoed up and off to find some more. See some swirls throw some gulps on stratic 2500's and I hook somethin with shoulders....

38 inches quite the fight.
So we keep lookin for the school and managed to find them 4 more times for double 36" plus redfish doubles. The fish were just sittin on top and very willing to eat.

Jenny with her 40" or so fish. Couldn't measure since the stick only reaches 36".

and another...

Me with the biggest on the day...42" I guess and bottomed out the Bobo at over 26lbs

Gave SanBlaslayer a ring to rub it in while he and ReelSlow were workin. He said "why don't you catch one on fly"...So I replied...

Took me a while to hook just one. Measured 34 1/2" and took over 30 min to tame.

One the day we ended with 12 reds over 30, 8 over 35 and two 40" and over.
A day to remember...the only thing that remains is a twisted cajun thunder, a skitterwalk with only one set of straightened hooks, these photos, and two really sore anglers.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark
